How To Use Text-to-Give For Your Nonprofit

Text-to-Give (T2G) is one of the easiest, fastest, and most flexible ways to give. It’s perfect for on-the-spot donation drives, church services, fundraising events, and conferences—and an essential tool for most modern nonprofits. If your organization is outside of the United States or Canada, Text-to-Give isn’t available through Donorbox, but if you’re located in one of these two countries, read on to see how easy it is to get started.

Step 1 – Create a campaign on Donorbox
You’ll be walked through the process by simply signing up. When asked which type of campaign you’d like to create, choose New Donation Form, and customize it to your liking.
Step 2 – Connect a payment processor
You’ll be prompted to do this after creating a Donation Form, and it simply enables you to accept donations straight into your bank account.
Step 3 – Activate Text-to-Give
From the sidebar menu inside your Donorbox account, click Integrations & Add-ons and select Text-to-Give. Then activate Text-to-Give on either the Long Code Plan or Short Code Plan. Both plans offer nearly the same thing, but Long Code Plans save you a bit of money while Short Code Plans are recommended for more professional campaigns.
Step 4 – Get your unique campaign ID
Return to your Donorbox Campaigns page and find the campaign you want to pair with Text-to-Give. The campaign ID is the unique code your donors will text to the Donorbox Text-to-Give number (1-855-575-7888 for the Long Code Plan, or 801801 for the Short Code Plan). Your donors can simply text your correct campaign ID to the Text-to-Give number to start the donation process. For the Short Code Plan, your donors will need to send an opt-in keyword ‘GIVE’ to initiate the text-to-give process, afterward, they’ll text the campaign ID.
